THE LIGHT SPECTRUM

Visible light corresponds to a wavelength spectrum range of approximately 400 to 700 nanometers (nm).

Blue light falls on this spectrum between approximately 450 to 520 nanometers. It is emitted from all manmade sources of light. In this day in age, blue light exposure is at the highest we have ever seen.

 

WHY IS ARTIFICIAL BLUE LIGHT BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH

Before manmade light sources, blue light exposure only came from the sun. The sun naturally balances out the blue light with other colours of light such as, red, green, infrared and ultraviolet. Manmade sources emit a high percentage of blue light, null and void of the full spectrum. Our devices and artificial lights have five times more blue light than you would receive from the sun. This makes it unnatural for such an excessive amount of blue light exposure.

Blue light inhibits melatonin production, which helps regulate the sleep cycle, causing the hormone to be imbalanced. When imbalanced, this prevents one from entering a maximum regenerative sleep state, which could look like; not falling asleep as quickly and easily nor sleeping as deeply and restfully. Research shows that poor sleep is linked to weight gain, anxiety, depression, diabetes, heart disease, neurogenerative disease and most other health issues.

 

WHY BLUE BLOCKING GLASSES  

The most effective method to protect our melatonin, sleep, and health from all the artificial blue light is to utilize blue blocking glasses. These glasses are tinted up to 550nm. This blocks all blue and the majority of green light.

The use is simple. When the sun sets, put them on. For best results, keep them on until sleep and have them ready in case of getting up throughout the night. They can also be utilized during the day under artificial lighting to help with headache relief and eye strain.
